Ada Jane song @ Minnesota Twins pre-game on 7/20

tilde July 15th, 2010 tilde

The Ada Jane song “Down The Highway” from the 2009 LP “Again…Again” will be in The Local Music Spotlight @ the July 20th Twins game. The spotlight occurs immediately after the first set of pre-show reads. Depending on the number of elements in the pre-game, that will be 25-40 minutes prior to first pitch. Go see yourself a Twins game on July 20th and hear our one song stadium tour in it’s entirety.

Our break from local shows ends on May 1st when we play the 400 Bar. We have some new songs ready and are eager to play then for you.

Also, just wanted to mention the passing of some great people, writers, and artists. In the past few months Mark Linkous/Sparklehorse, Vic Chesnutt, J.D. Salinger, and Howard Zinn have all  gone away and are very much missed. Salute.

Happy holidays and free downloads from Ada Jane.‏‏‏

tilde December 21st, 2009 tilde

Just wanted to send out a quick thanks and happy holidays to you for supporting Ada Jane in 2009. It was another big year for Ada Jane w/ the recording/release of our new record “Again…Again” (available on-line through our revamped website www.adajane.com or at all Twin Cities Cheapos locations, so stuff those stockings w/ 100 copies each), a showcase at NxNE in Toronto, touring all over the east coast, and two successful benefit shows for Street Kids For Street Music and and Legal Aid…..and that last Mankato show in November. WOW! FUN!

To show our appreciaton we’ve uploaded a few unreleased songs we recorded during the “Again…Again” recording sessions onto www.myspace.com/adajanemusic. The songs are “Don’t Go So Far Away” and “Stuck In Stall” and they’re available for free download to you from us. Cheers. See you in the new year/decade.

as always…Thanks,

Matt Marka of Ada Jane

Ada Jane @ Legal Aid benefit show Friday, Dec. 18th @ 7th St. Entry

tilde December 14th, 2009 tilde

generous peeps,

Ada Jane will be playing it’s last show of 2009 at the 7th St. Entry this Friday, Dec. 18th. as part of the Legal Aid benefit show. This event will feature performances by: Alicia Wiley, Kill the Vultures, Little Man, Ada Jane & Alpha Centauri. Doors are @ 8pm. Ada Jane starts the show @ 8:30. 18+ show. $7 at the door. Here’s a brief description of what Legal Aid does………

For nearly a century, Legal Aid Society of Minneapolis (“Legal Aid”) has helped poor and disadvantaged people with free civil legal advice, representation, and education. Unlike with criminal cases, there’s no guarantee in the United States of a lawyer in a civil case. Legal Aid is a non-profit providing those without money the attorney they deserve but otherwise would not have. We give a voice to the voiceless, providing hope to the often terrified people whose vulnerability has been exploited.

Alright, hope you’re feeling very charitable. Please do stop down and support this great cause and see some great local music. WIN..WIN!

Thanks,

Matt of Ada Jane

Thanks to everybody involved w/ the show at the What’s Up Lounge in Mankato last Saturday, 11/21. All the bands on the bill (Ben Wilinski, Revilwen, and The Sold Out’s), Aaron from the What’s Up, and all the old/new friends and family that showed up. I’m glad we all stuck to that carpet together. Thanks!!

fianl tour update:

tilde November 16th, 2009 tilde

11/11:  Toledo, OH @ Mickey Finn’s- We drop off Matt bass at the Greyhound Station. We’re a two piece for next two shows. Toledo looks like the recession has pummelled the town w/ both fists. The open to closed ratio of downtown storefronts is about 50/50. We get our first bit of really great press for the tour and wait at the club for people to show up in droves. Droves turns into about 15 people by the time we play, but they are 15 really appreciative Toledans and we are two appreciative Twin Citians.

11/12: Indianapolis @ Melody Inn: We’re about two weeks into the tour and it’s just now starting to feel like what we do. Not much phases us. We handle grumpy soundmen, ridiculous urine stained hotels, and 9 hour drives w/o issues.  Unfortunately,  we go home tomorrow. The only local band on the bill pulls a no call/no show. BLURG!! We play like champs to about 10 people.

11/14: Minneapolis @ 400 Bar: Homecoming show w/ Magic Black Pumas and I Was In Vancouver goes over like I wish every show would. There’s no drama or ego between the bands. Bands and fans are appreciative. Mailing lists are signed. CD’s are bought. People are enjoying themselves. Tonight we’re a four piece again, and Dave plays as if he’d been touring w/ us for the past few weeks. Dan Eikmeier even made it in time to play trumpet for a tune. The best show this line-up has played. Period.

11/11 tour update.

tilde November 11th, 2009 tilde

11/8: Philadelphia @ The Khyber- By far the best show of the tour! We played w/ a great Philly band, The Screaming Rattlers. We played great! Everything is right for a moment.

11/9: Cambridge, MA @ All Asia: BRUTAL! Just brutal! Please don’t ask.

11/10: Pittsburgh @ Howler’s Coyote Cafe: I visited the Giant Eagle grocery store which is pronounced something like Gin Ehgoh in Pittsbugheese. We play our asses off for a few sober people and a REALLY drunk guy named Keith that thinks we “have the language.” We make no money.

11/8 tour update

tilde November 8th, 2009 tilde

11/4: Washington DC @ Asylum- Nobody I talk to seems to want to stay in this city. We played on a stage the size of a closet….a small closet. People found out that we were from Minnesota and were asking us to speak “Minnesotan.”

11/6: New York City @ Arlene’s Grocery- By far the best club we’ve played so far. Even if there was only two people there to see us and it was PACKED after we played. We meet up w/ my friend Mike and feel better. Much better!

11/7: Brooklyn @ Coco 66- We walk in the club and it’s amazing. Nice room, stage, a fog machine. Nice. Except that they’ve double booked the night. Things work out fine, but everybody has short sets. My friend Josh’s band, Woodpecker! plays and he makes a joke about our youth that makes me blush. Then he plays a song about me that makes me tear up. NYC RULES!

11/3 tour update

tilde November 4th, 2009 tilde

11/1: Madison @ The Frequency- A blur, but a very polite and complimentary blur.

11/2: Chicago @ The Darkroom- I left my pedal/chord suitcase behind. Freakin amateur! We drove an extra hour because of me. Show was…good?

11/3: Columbus, OH @ Bernie’s- The people of Columbus now firmly believe that we’re a christian rock act…because I said we were. It made us no extra money.

East coast tour strarts now!!
